Me, me, me….hee-hee.

There is a fine line between being self centred and self aware, and even though I do have a t-shirt that proclaims “It’s all about me” I like to think I strive to be on the “aware” side of life.

Being self aware takes practice, as being self centred is indeed my default. I mean after all this is my life, these are my thoughts, my bloggy thing, and in my reality, as the very wise, Cassidy M. once said, “I may not be much, but I’m all I ever think about!”

Getting out of self is one of lifes greatest gifts, a huge dilemma, and a profound paradox. We have to learn about self care, paying attention to our actions, thoughts and surroundings, without obsessing. We need to get out of our own way, by becoming aware of where the heck we are.

What we do matters. Self awareness can be the seed of our own enlightenment. Service to others helps. As does listening to and watching our world from a place of clarity and neutrality, which is different from indifference and judgment.

For the most part I work toward waking up, actually I think I strive toward general awareness. But, there are times my oblivion slaps me in the face. Somethings are so obvious that I start to wonder how in the world did I become so clueless? What the heck have I been paying attention to? How in the world  did I not notice that?

Case in point — today’s earthquake. Missed it!
