I’m so glad I recorded it. I will watch it again, and maybe even again. If I could “share” it or send it to my friends I would. More than anything, I’d love to watch it with my American friends.
Actually, I wish every American could see it. But, the truth is Ron James will never get a green card. And even though he is quite famous up here, I’m afraid very few Americans will ever hear of him, and that is a shame.
Ron James is talented! He is funny and extremely clever. He entertains the way Lenny Bruce, and George Carlin did: the story tells a truth.
While I was laughing, I was also really, really wishing his audience was bigger.
The guy takes you on a terrific ride. He describes events by twisting, and turning phrases, stringing together super long lists of descriptives; he is a true wordsmith, with obvious insight.
Different from how Rick Mercer rants; Ron James is more poetic. Both of these Canadian icons rant well, both take pride in being Canadian, and both make me glad to live here as well.
I’ve thought about this a lot, and if I could invite anyone in the world, to my next birthday party — I pick Ron James.
