My dad always said you need something to look forward to. For the most part I agree.
Next week, friends are coming for ham dinner, and you can bet I’m looking forward to that.
I also think we can spend too much time focusing on the next thing, and the next thing, and the next thing.
For example — the day after Canadian Thanksgiving, we looked past Halloween, and Christmas shit was all the rage. Months and months of hype for a day that is still two weeks away. I said back then, it wasn’t sustainable.
Apparently, I was right.
I guess people get bored because, while Christmas Day is still 10 days away; in today’s mail were flyers for all the Boxing Day sales.
I don’t think this what my dad had in mind.
