rulesforeasyliving

I think I am pretty easy going. Ken insists that I have a lot of rules for living.

I confess, in the past I had a few suggestions on how things should be done, but over the years, I’ve let go of a lot of rituals and requirements that I believed would insure my happiness and make those around me more comfortable.

Really, I am happy-go-lucky, fancy free and tend to go with the flow… except… I do prefer a way we come to and go away from the house.

There is something inside me that likes… insists… okay, demands… that we let each other know where are going when we leave the house.

It isn’t like I have abandonment issues or anything and I don’t feel the need to keep tabs on anyone; I just feel it’s polite to say hello when you come home, and when you leave…… just tell me.

(Okay, it’s a rule.)

Now sometimes it isn’t possible to actually tell each other where we are off to, so we have developed a system for this. We leave a note! And because we pretty much go the same places day after day, we have a stash of notes that work and we don’t have to write out a new one every time.

Now I am free to let go of other so called rules, like how to make the bed properly, or wiping the crumbs off the counter, or…. never mind, those aren’t important.

Just let me know where you are.

I hail from camp No News Is Good News. I rarely know where my sons or spouse are, but I know where I am, and that seems to offer me sufficient peace of mind.
