The Tuesday hiking group is meeting again this morning. They took the summer off and so, I’m looking forward to joining them and being able to walk in the bush again. We are heading up to Chapman Falls.
Because of all the bears in the area I stick to walking on the sidewalks when I walk by myself. It will be nice to walk with the group and get into the back country again. It will also be nice to re-connect with the friends we made last Fall.
Today, is also the day that I will pass by the 4 million step mark recorded on my fitbit! Four million steps! I’ve been wearing the Fitbit just short of a year now and as of this morning, I only need 9,040 steps to reach the mark.
I’ve always had a walking practice, but it has taken on more importance to me since we moved to Sechelt. After the year we’ve had — I’m going to echo what Søren Kierkegaard said.
“Above all, do not lose your desire to walk. Everyday, I walk myself into a state of well-being & walk away from every illness. I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it. But by sitting still, & the more one sits still, the closer one comes to feeling ill. Thus if one just keeps on walking, everything will be all right.â€
I’m walking here!
Fabulous quote! Thanks for this. Now posted above my desk.
