The sun is shining this morning in Cowicahn Bay. The 5th Annual Spot Prawn Festival is in full swing and Ken and I are in the float house reading books, napping and writing. We did a walk about through earlier. There is music, crafts, prawns and people all over the place.
Like I said, we had a look and then enough.
We are not the go getters of the party. Actually we are quite happy to miss most of the activities. We spent the day in the car yesterday driving around the area, had a great lunch in Maple Bay, stopped by a Wooden Boat Festival with three other people and again, came back to the float house to read. We take breaks from the action and sit in the small garden deck, and watch two 10 year old boys fish with a soda pop can and some line. They are having a great summer so far and after about six hours, they are happy to report they caught two bullheads.
My 58th birthday is tomorrow and I have to say, I am as happy as can be sitting across from Ken on this little houseboat with my laptop and book. Ken is reading the History of the World. Said he is at “Turkey and the Mongols have just fallen and have been driven out of Russia, China and Persia.†I just finished reading Tina Fey’s Bosseypants!
We like our yin/yang, deep and shallow balance we’ve created and accepted in one another.
Our first pass through of the Prawn festival Ken looked at the boats and I bought a purse. Later, we’ll grab some lunch at the prawn boil. $10. says, we will get it to go and come back here to eat.
Our life may be quite boring to others, but it works for us. Together we agree this is a great way to spend the day.
