anniversaries

June 25th, 2012 by Jan

Yesterday was the anniversary of the first tai chi class I ever took. That was in 1986 and I remember it was June 24th because that was also the day I met Darryla. And every year after that she would say, “Happy Anniversary!”

Ken and I received an anniversary card in the mail last week and it surprised us. Our 29th wedding anniversary is next week.

I often think about anniversaries of one kind or another. Jim just had a birthday, Sheila has been playing tai chi for 10 years. It has been 9 years since my mom died, I’m sober 28 years. We launched Today’s Step a mere 3 months ago! Ken and I moved to Bowen Island 16 years ago. I’ve worked at the O for 8 of the ten years they have been in business, and have had the same best friend for 35 years.

There are no marks or names on my calendar today. June 25th is just a plain ole Monday for me. But I’ll bet someone, somewhere holds this date as an anniversary for something.

The IChing says — perseverance furthers. I say stuff happens, and when we remember, we send a card.
