I know this is not a popular view point, but it is my view point.
I will not wear a poppy today. I will not gather with the rest of the Canada at 11 a.m. and remember the fallen hero.
I will not salute the vet. I will not honour war in any form.
For as long as I can remember, my father a WW2 solider crammed in our head that he is the reason we do not speak Japanese. That I am free because he went to war in 1945. Maybe all of that is true. BUT… I find it appalling that we salute those who honestly believe they need to kill or be killed.
When I look at how far we have come — and how stupid war is, I see that we have not come all that far.
The war on drugs, the war on terror, the war on women. The war the war the war.
No thanks.
My experience with soldiers is that they come home from “saving us†only to be totally fucked up by the process.
So, today I will do what I always do — popular or not, I will stand in side myself and hold what I hold dear.
