I spend a lot of time on Facebook. Probably too much time.
I like keeping in touch with friends from all over the world and I like to keep it fun.
I had a rule when I joined FB that I would stay away from politics, religion or any other hot topic.
This is not an easy rule to follow, because of things like the attacks on women, Planned Parenthood, #BlackLivesMatter, as well as, asshats like Trump, and Harper.
I find that on the inter web, people (even people I think I love) say the darnedest things, and I am left shaking my head in disbelief. I take things too seriously, or too righteously, and I can get too wrapped up in something I can’t change or can’t buy into. Hitting the “like†button, blocking idiots, or biting my tongue only goes so far for me.
I do not want to quit Facebook, but, hear ye, hear ye… I can not get sucked into politics on a social media sight, it makes me nutty. So I am saying… Nope, no, nada, not any more….
Talking politics for me, is right up there with having a hot poker shoved in my eye, or listening to a kid scream on an airplane.
So, this is it. I will state my piece here, and be done with it. (At least I hope this will be it.)
I do not want any more “OMFG are they insane?†or “What an Asshat.†comments to take up my time. I feel more productive watching Say Yes, to the Dress on TV. I will continue to “like†the photos of the sunsets, family reunions, cats, and personal adventures that friends post, but no more political or religious bullshit for me.
This is where I stand and I doubt I will change my mind by election day.
Even though I do not necessarily believe my vote counts or even that it matters, I vote. I have the right to vote in two countries and while I think both systems are corrupt, deep down inside, I know voting is the right thing to do, so I vote.
In the states, I will vote for the democrat candidate. I don’t care who the nominee is, they will have my vote. I do care that those fucking weirdo asshat republicans don’t get any where close to more power than they already have.
I know for the most part, psychopaths run the world, but what is so wrong with having a sane person in charge?*
In Canada, I will vote to get Harper out. * See the sentence above.
Okay – done and done. (I hope.)
I love you.
I’m with Jenny. You are fabulous. I have always loved how you stand strongly for what is right for you. And how you are able to express yourself so clearly.
Love you.
Thanks you two. The love goes right back to you both!
Thank you Jan, for remind me of what is truly important, including having friends who say what they feel.
“listening to a kid scream on an airplane.” says it all. with you and with you. Gah!
