Good Night London

August 12th, 2012 by Jan

The Olympic closing ceremonies are over.

I have very mixed emotions. I love watching the Olympics and all the hoo-ha involved and yet, I have spent way too much time in front of a television the last 15 or 17 days or how ever long it has been.

What is really sending me over the edge now  — even though the flame is out, the games have officially closed and yet… Roger Daltrey and the Who are singing songs from Tommy. Talk about mixed emotions!

My guess is that most of the athletes are too young to even know who the heck is on stage and yet, I am reminiscing. The Who was one of the first rock bands I ever saw in person and I always had a little “thing” for Roger Daltrey and go figure – there he is at the 2012 Olympic games!

For the biggest sporting event in the world, it’s weird that Paul McCartney opened and Roger Daltrey and Pete Townsend close. I’m glad the games were held in London for the music alone!

Good night London! I am happy I watched and I’m very glad to be turning the TV off!
