2012 – do I believe?

Focus, stamina, and dedication. These are the qualities it takes to spend an entire day watching the Olympics on TV.

Flipping through seven channels of coverage, planting my bum on the sofa, eating cookies and blueberries while remarking on the athletes perfect form and structure, and staying calm through stupid announcer commentary takes a serious commitment.

I cheer for the underdog, love the fact that a 39 year old Bulgarian made the finals in rings, but watching the whitewater kayaking exhausted me, soccer bores me, and the judo was over in the time it took for me to go to the washroom.

I admit I got goosebumps watching a 17 year old girl lift twice her body weight over her head, and yes, I got a little teary eyed hearing the National anthem of the US. And I wonder when will they raise the maple leaf and play Oh, Canada.

One day down — 15 more to go. I can tell already, I did not train well enough for this – I’m not sure I’m going to make it.
